Better Jax Beach was founded and organized by Jon McGowan, who serves as President. Jon runs Better Jax Beach as a volunteer. Bill Stevens, owner of Beachside Swimwear, serves as the Vice-President.

Better Jax Beach was founded in 2013 after a string of violence brought negative press to the area. There was a need for an organization to step in and create "community building events" which could bring families back to the area. The Jax Beach Art Walk was founded in 2013 and the Jax Beach Classic Car Cruise was founded a year later in 2014.

Our purpose is to create a thriving downtown Jacksonville Beach that encourages the families, residents, and visitors of the beaches communities to consider the area their go-to destination.
